RN7 Going to IHOSY and surrounding area
IHOSY is located in the IHOROMBE region (faritany of Fianarantsoa).
Built by the Ihosy River, the city is a must-see intersection for those looking to go south: Toliary (RN7), Ambovombe, Tolagnaro (RN13), Farafangana (RN27).
IHOSY is one of the largest agglomerations in Bara (semi-nomadic pastoral people) and is also known for its zebus market. The region is characterised by its large grassy areas where flocks are scattered and sometimes, from this savannah one is expected to see giraffes or zebras emerge… But no, we only see zebus and along the way the typical villages stalk the landscape.
A feast for the eyes until arriving in Ranohira at the foot of the ISALO Massif.
IHOSY is in the region of IHOROMBE (province of Fianarantsoa).
The town is developed near the river Ihosy , and it is a place of passage for those in the south : Toliary (RN7), Ambovombe, Tolagnaro (RN13), Farafangana (RN27).
IHOSY is one of the big hands of the Bara tribe (best known for its farming) and is famous for its cattle market. What makes this area distinctive are its lush greenery, herd of cattle and grassy sheds along the road. The sight is really pleasant until you reach Ranohira, ISALO.
